When Disney announced the release of the movie Disenchanted, many people were waiting for the movie with great enthusiasm, especially since it is a sequel to the movie Enchanted, which was shown in cinemas in 2007 and met with great success, distinguished interaction, and was nominated for three Oscars.
The experience of producing a new film to complete the story of an old film is an experiment that bears many risks, represented in the audience’s acceptance of the new work, as well as its ability to at least match the success of the first part, in addition to the need for it to present a good idea and not just an investment for the success of the first film. Was Disenchanted able to achieve A success similar to the success of the first part that preceded it 15 years ago, read the movie disenchanted review below –
Disenchanted movie review

The story of the Disenchanted movie:
The events begin 15 years after the events of Enchanted, Giselle begins to feel bored in New York after her fascination with the city ends, and she tries to search for eternal happiness again, so she sets out with her husband Robert for life in a suburb far from the hustle and bustle of New York and from the monotonous life in order to reach happiness again, However, Giselle’s search for happiness causes everyone’s life to be turned upside down as a result of the wrong action, so she has to look for a way to fix things.
Disenchanted review Screenplay and Dialogue :
The script started well and exciting with new ideas that would be suitable for the film to be a complement to its first part. Giselle’s fascination with New York began to end, and the spark of her love for Robert began to extinguish as a result of routine and boredom. Those ideas were developed by the script at the beginning and were very successful in attracting interest in the beginning.
But in a strange decision from the script, after half an hour of the film, he began to abandon those ideas that might have given the film strength and influence, so that the film then turns into a less powerful version than expected, especially with the presence of good ideas that were presented at the beginning.
After that, the script proceeded in a stereotyped manner, and it was not able to take into account the idea that 15 years have passed since the first film, so the film appeared not appropriate for the current time, but rather as if it was written in 2007, immediately after the first film.
And this is the main problem with the script. Whoever clung to the first part in 2007 is now of a different age, and therefore the film released in 2022 had to take into account more than what happened in writing the script.
Disenchanted movie review Acting performance:
The script was not elaborate enough, and therefore this appeared in the drawing of the characters, which was not at its best, but it can be said that the acting abilities of the actors were able in the first place to provide distinguished performances.
Amy Adams was able to present the character of Giselle in a charming way and embodied the transformations that were affecting the character as a result of her actions or disappointments in the best possible way.
On the side of the character Robert, embodied by Patrick Dempsey, although the character changed somewhat from the first part, and that was not a good decision from the scenario, the embodiment of Dempsey himself remained in very good condition and was able to form a harmonious duo with Amy Adams.
Disenchanted Movie review Final evaluation:
Disenchanted is an average 6/10 movie, but it’s a fun movie and it wasn’t a bad experience.
And in the event that you need to enjoy it, you should not raise your expectations with a work that will surpass its first part, as the magic of the first part was certainly more effective, but watching Disenchanted as an ordinary movie will suffice you to enjoy it.
